CANDID CONVERSATIONS ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS

Candid Conversations about Mental Illness takes a fresh perspective on mental illness. In these series of videos, Dr. John Tamerin and Hakeem Rahim discuss mental illness and bipolar disorder openly and candidly. Hakeem shares his thoughts drawn from his 15 year journey living with bipolar disorder. Seasoned clinician, Dr. Tamerin takes an approach of inquiry and curiosity, and in so doing shifts the "normal" conversation between clinician and client, expert and inquirer.

Patient Reviews and Evaluations

SOME REVIEWS ARE ANONYMOUS

"Dr. T lead 2 peer-support groups I attended that were important to my mental and emotional stability at a time of great stress. His expertise in bi-polar disease and his gentle moderation of the group were immensely positive for me. Care generated between group members became a healing force under his guidance. It was a safe and creative group where people suffering with bi-polar disease could practice healthy living."

"Several months after my wife died I found that I was in a rather low place. I heard about Dr. Tamerin's group and felt that Dr. Tamerin and his group would give me the support necessary to face this difficult time. I was not disappointed. Under Dr. Tamerin's professional and fatherly guidance and the warm friendship of the group I found my spirits lifting. I shall be forever grateful."

"Dr Tamerin is one of the most talented and caring psychiatrists/ psychologists that I have ever worked with. His dedication to his patients are unmatched and has the right balance of knowing how to challenge you if you need it and also knowing when to embrace you with comfort and support. I had had found dr t at my lowest and every single time things have gotten too much, he has taken me from a point of despair and session by session helped enable myself to get back to a place of confidence and health.
Mental health is a journey of ups and downs but dr t will never give up in trying to help you. My biggest struggles have been anxiety/ panic attacks and depression, I am 26 years old (female) and I have seen dr t since I was 21. This man will push you in ways that you need but always treat you with an enormous amount of respect and compassion."
